The American Society of Plastic Surgeons designates this educational activity for a maximum of 29 AMA PRA Category 1 credits. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This educational activity has been approved in the College's CPD Program. Fellows who participate can claim one point per hour (maximum 29 points) in Category 4: Maintenance of Clinical Knowledge and Skills towards 2008 CPD totals.

Thomas Biggs, USA

Thomas Biggs, USA

Dr. Thomas Biggs attended Yale and Rice Universities and received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. He interned at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and received general surgery and plastic surgery training at the Baylor affiliated hospitals. Dr. Biggs served as a Captain in the US Air Force and was Chief of Plastic Surgery at Travis Air Force Base Hospital before returning to Houston, Texas to begin private practice.

He was as a member of the Cronin, Brauer & Biggs Clinic Association from 1966 until 1988 when he opened a private practice. Dr. Biggs is on the Emeritus staff at St. Joseph Medical Center in Houston where he served three terms as Chairman of the Department of Surgery. He is currently a Clinical Professor, in the division of plastic surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Biggs is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He was President of ISAPS, 2002-2004, and is currently a Trustee and Editor-in-Chief of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the official journal of ISAPS.

Dr. Biggs is a member of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Biggs was named 2005 Distinguished Plastic Surgeon by the Houston Society of Plastic Surgeons, one of only two recipients in the 50 year history of the society. He has published over 30 articles and book chapters on plastic surgery and has been a member of the faculty or the scientific program chair of many plastic surgery organizations throughout the world.

Timothy Marten, USA

Timothy Marten, USA

Dr. Marten is founder of the Marten Clinic of Plastic Surgery, and is also Medical Director of the San Francisco Center for the Surgical Arts. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He received his medical degree with honors from the University of California and went on to complete training in general and microsurgery. He received his plastic surgery training at the University of Illinois, and then completed aesthetic surgery fellowships with Bruce Connell, Tom Baker, Howard Gordon, James Stuzin, and Richard Mladick.

Dr. Marten is an internationally recognized expert in surgery to rejuvenate the face and is a member of over twenty professional societies including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the American Association of Plastic Surgeons. He has made over one hundred and fifty scientific presentations at national and international symposia on aesthetic plastic surgery, and has published numerous scientific articles and textbook chapters on facelift surgery and related topics.

Dr. Marten is a sought after teacher and speaker in plastic surgery techniques and has
received numerous professional, scientific and academic awards for his contributions
to plastic surgery.

Foad Nahai, USA

Foad Nahai, USA

Dr. Nahai graduated from medical school at the University of Bristol, England. He then spent one year as a house officer in Bristol before moving to the United States where he served as an intern and first year resident at the Johns Hopkins affiliated hospitals in Baltimore. He then moved to Atlanta to complete general surgery and plastic surgery training at Emory University, staying on the faculty at Emory where he eventually became a tenured professor in plastic surgery. He has been in private practice at Paces Plastic Surgery in Atlanta since 1998.

Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Nahai has also served as a Director on its Board. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of many local, national, and international plastic surgical societies.

Dr. Nahai has authored several textbooks, over 40 book chapters, and more than 140 original articles. He has received numerous awards including the James Barrett Brown Award of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, has lectured and demonstrated surgical procedures throughout the world, and has been a visiting professor at over 20 centers of higher education.

His current interests are centered on aesthetic surgery of the face, breast, and body. Dr. Nahai is the current president of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and is First Vice President of ISAPS.

Gino Rigotti was born in Verona Italy and graduated cum laude in Medicine and Surgery from Modena University in 1969, where he won the Lepetit Prize for the best Degree Thesis of the academic year. In 1970, he joined the staff as Chief Assistant in the Plastic Surgery Unit of the Verona Hospital Institutes. He is Board Certified in Plastic Surgery by the University of Turin. He is Board Certified in Space and Aeronautical Medicine by the University of Rome and is head of the Division of Plastic Surgery, Burn Unit and State Center for Breast Reconstruction of the Azienda Ospedaliera of Verona.

Since 1988, he has been a microsurgery consultant at the Istituto Nazionale per lo Studio e la Cura dei Tumori of Milan in reconstructive microsurgery. He has directed many international courses on microsurgery, head and neck surgery, and breast reconstruction. In the last 15 years, he has been mostly dedicated to breast reconstructive surgery using autologous and alloplastic materials.

He is primarily involved in clinical activity and research on adipose derived stem-cells. He has published 120 articles and chapters in leading journals and books and is a member of the Società Italiana di Chirurgia Plastica, EURAPS,ASPS, SPRAS. He is a Founding Member and President of the Società Italiana di Microchirurgia and a Founding Member of the Società Latina di Microchirurgia. Dr. Rigotti is in demand internationally to speak about and demonstrate various surgical procedures.
